Hello to you All 
Well, I haven't been to Finland yet. But I'm going there in May for a short truck photography trip. I'm a trucking enthusiast and truck photography is my hobby.
There's a couple of reasons why I've chosen Finland. Obviously, Finnish trucks are bigger than trucks in most of Europe but together with that they are also very diverse when it comes to outfits, combinations and makes. Of course there's also Sisu. I grew up around timber trucks and amongst timber truck drivers in my region Sisu had something of a legendary status as the best truck for timber haulage. I hope I'll be lucky an will get to see C/R - series models as well as SM/SR - series ones (I hope there are still some of them out there). Also growing around timber truck made me a keen timber truck enthusiast and as timber is one of Finland's main economy branches I'm sure I'm going to see plenty of timber trucks there.
That would be all I guess. The only thing that worries me is the language barrier. Whenever I want to take photos of truck on a parking I always ask the driver for permission. I can always ask "Voi omia valokuva sinun kuorma-auto?" and as long as I'll get "joo" or "ei" it will be ok, but if the driver will try to talk with me it might be fun

  I don't think you have any problems with language barrier, because most of Finnish people do speak english. Atleast the younger generation of drivers do. If not, show your camera and point the truck, they'll understand what you mean by that.
  Here in Finland is atleast one truck-enthusiast, he has taken pictures of three trucks I've been driving.
  I'm sure that you will find Sisu SM/SR-series, there's plenty of them still in use here.

Hello to you Mariusz!

It's very nice you wrote so long story here and above all it's great to hear of your history and your interests of finnish trucks.
So, you're coming here to Finland but do you have something exact place or happening where you are heading? Or are you going to just have a cruise around the country and take photographs?
For example, there's LOGISTICS - TRANSPORT 2009 EXHIBITION, in our capital city Helsinki, 6.-9. May 2009.

But I'm sure you will see lot's of great trucks here, in any case.

And many of younger people here speaks and at least understands english. Which I'm thinking you speak and write quite well.
So don't worry about the language barrier.

And if you wan't to ask in finnsh, "Can I take fotograph of your truck?", the correct line is:

"Voinko ottaa valokuvan sinun kuorma-autostasi?"

You have a great selection of photos in your gallery, Jussi. Keep them coming. I wanted to connect my visit to Finland with beeing on Power Truck Show, unfortunetly I have important private commitments around the time it takes place so I can't be there so I'm making my trip in May instead...

Hello to everyone.

On friday I came back from my truck spotting trip to Finland. I have uploaded a few of the photos I took both trucking and non-trucking onto my webpage so You are more than welcome to have a look. Althought I found it a bit difficult to take truck photos in Finland I am happy as I still had a good time, seen a couple of beautiful places (Kotka, Lake Saimaa, the dam and riverbed of Imatrankoski Rapids, Porvoo) and got at least one photo of every Sisu truck model made in the last 20 years  I also found locals generally friendly and helpfull, even if they weren't speaking english. I had a case where I coudn't locate my hotel, I've asked two people in English, they were replying in Finnish and I did find my hotel with their help

 Hello to everyone.  I am a truck driver from United Kingdom and I visit Finland every year on vacation.  At work I drive maybe 120,000 kms per year, but for 2 weeks every summer I drive 5000 kms round trip to Finland in my family car, so you can say for sure I like the place!  Okey, half of the trip is taken by Travemünde - Helsinki ferry,  so it`s not so far to drive.

Last year, on my way home on Helsinki - Travemünde route, and very late on a Saturday night, I went out onto the deck for the last cigarette of the day... (I know, it`s a bad habit, but truck driving is not the easyest job to have when you want to try and stop smoking) ..... anyway, back to my point,  another guy came out on deck also for a smoke and started talking to me in Finnish.  He was a little bit drunk too!  So I explained (in my poor Finnish) that I was not a Fin, but if he spoke slowly I might understand.  So then he thought I was Estonian  :-D   When he found out that I was `britanniasta ja rekkamies` he insisted that I join him and his colleagues in the drivers lounge for a drink or two......   I got back to my cabin at 0700h!!   I had a fantastic time with them, excellent cameraderie and lots of laughing and joking.....  mainly talking about rally drivers....  A fantastic holiday topped off with a chance to socialize with my Finnish colleagues... a perfect end to a perfect holiday, kiitos paljon!!

Have been in Finland many times, because my father works there as a truckdriver and im coming to finland next weekend and will be there till the end of August
